Portrait of Paul Gonzalez, pianist and piano teacher

Background

Trained at IMEP School of Music as part of a professional jazz curriculum, and holding a degree in musicology from the Sorbonne, Paul combines solid technical training with a deep reflection on the history and theory of music.

A pianist for more than 15 years, he performs in Parisian bars and private events, where he continues to nourish his practice of improvisation and the jazz repertoire alongside other musicians.

With 5 years of teaching experience, he teaches piano, music theory and composition to a wide range of students — children, teenagers and adults, beginners and experienced learners alike. He works in particular within a private music school in the 16th arrondissement of Paris.

His teaching approach is based on a personalised programme for each student, blending technical rigour, musical culture and the pleasure of playing — in a resolutely eclectic spirit, between jazz, classical and neoclassical music.

Composition

Paul writes original works for solo piano, published as downloadable digital sheet music with reference recordings.
